2010 World Quilt Show: Canada
Aug 25th, 2010 | Category: Quilt Shows
The World Quilt Show is like the Olympics of quilting: quilters compete for themselves as well as for their country. World Quilt XIV debuted in Manchester, NH August 19 – 22, 2010 with 211 quilts from nine different countries.
Canada was well represented with 18 quilts, making it the 5th largest exhibit in the show. The United States, not surprisingly, was the largest exhibit with 62 quilts, followed by Germany and New Zealand with 30 quilts, and the United Kingdom with 21. Japan had 15 entries, South Africa 13, Australia 12, and Ireland 10.
Out of all the countries, Canada received the second highest number of awards with a total of six ribbons. The United States earned the most, with 10 awards including Best of World and Viewers Choice. But as a percentage of entries, a whopping one-third of the Canadian exhibit attained recognition!
Here are the six Canadian award-winning quilts from the 2010 World Quilt Show, with links to the artists where available.
