I would just like to thank you Kathy for taking time out of your personal life to come and teach us something not many of us would've ever thought of doing. This experience was an amazing one and I am so glad to have shared it with you. I loved participating in this project. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing some of our quilt blocks here. To be apart of this, was absolutely outstanding. We all learned something new and exciting. I think many of us were very happy with our end results. It was a neat way of combining art, english and math. This opporunity has made me more observant with different forms of art all around me. I think this actually made me open my eyes to see how much math and english we us in other activities, such as quilt making.

On behalf of the Grade 9s at Cartwright High School, I would like to thank you again Mrs.Wylie.

As coordinator of the Artist in Residence Program and Art Teacher at Cartwright High School, I would like to add my congratulations to Kathy and to the students and core subject teachers at Cartwright. Kathy, your blog sums the process and product of this Artsmarts project up wonderfully!

I, too, was touched by the commitment of all students toward the quilting activity and their willingness to connect it to their lives in significant ways. As educators, our understanding of literacy now includes being able to use math in daily life and to read many kinds of graphic texts in meaningful ways. Kathy's project accomplished learning on both these areas, and gave the students a once-in-a-lifetime experience as well. I recommend it to all educators.

Thank you, Kathy!
